Fareham A v Cosham A, 2007

1. e4 c5 2. d4 cxd4 3. c3 Nc6 4. cxd4 d6!? This move immediately took me out of book and I feel must be wrong as White gets too much play 4... d5 5. exd5 Qxd5 is the normal continuation here 5. Nc3 Nf6 6. Bc4 6. d5 Ne5 7. f4 is an interesting and aggressive line 6... g6 7. Nf3 Bg7 8. O-O O-O 9. h3?! not only unnecessary but bad. See note after next move 9. d5! Na5 10. Bd3 Bg4 11. Be3 Nd7 12. h3 Bxf3 13. Qxf3 Ne59... a6?? returns the favour 9... Nxe4 10. Bxf7+ Rxf7 11. Nxe4 d5 12. Nc310. Qe2 b5 11. e5 dxe5 12. dxe5 bxc4 13. Rd1 13. exf6 was a better option 13... exf6 14. Qxc4=13... Nd7 14. e6 Bxc3?! 14... Ra7 15. exd7 Rxd7 16. Rxd7 Qxd7 17. Qxc4 Qb7 18. Qe2 Bf5 19. Na4 Rd8 leaves Black with the better chances 15. bxc3 Qc7 16. exd7 Bxd7 17. Qxc4 Be6 18. Bf4 18. Qh4 is a better try 18... Bxc4 19. Bxc7 Rac8 20. Ne5?! 20. Nd2 Bd3 21. Bb6 Rb8 22. Be3= is possibly more solid 20... Bb5 21. Nxc6 Rxc7 22. Nd4?? a mistake a time begins to run out 22. Nb4 Rxc3 23. a4 Be2 24. Rd7 Rb3 25. Rxe7 Rxb4 26. Rxe2 Rfb8 27. Re7= should be an easy draw 22... Ba4 22... Rxc3!! may be enough to win although time is running low for both of us now 23. Nxb5 axb523. Rd3 Rd7 24. Re3 e6 25. Rb1 whilst White is slightly better, a win is difficult and the draw accurately reflects the performance in a game where no serious blunders were made ½-½
